Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify where low-iron glass, tempered glass, and laminated glass are appropriate specification choices for a given opening.

  2. Compare insulating glass spacer and sealant systems by strength, durability, and edge-of-glass thermal performance.

  3. Explain emissivity and interpret fade-protection metrics such as Tdw-ISO when selecting Low-E coatings.

  4. Apply IG durability and energy standards including ASTM E2190, NFRC, ENERGY STAR, and NAFS to product evaluation.

  5. Select climate-appropriate glazing strategies and identify the five required elements of direct-gain passive solar design.
